Apple in Talks with Music Labels for Unlimited Music

According to a Reuters story, Apple is in talk with major music labels to to offer customers free access to its entire iTunes music library in exchange for paying a premium for its iPods and iPhones, the Financial Times said.

Whether or not this would be subscription based or a one time fee for the life of the device remains to be seen.

I think this report goes counter to what Apple would normally do, not to mention Steve Jobs saying that subscription based models just don't work. Perhaps it is part of a deal to get music onto every single iPod that is sold and get DRM free music to every track. We'll have to wait to see since Apple reps had no comment at this time.

Airport Extreme can now use USB HD for Time Machine

Apple released the Time Machine and Airport software update yesterday and to our surprise, it allows you to use a USB hard drive as a Time Machine drive for wireless backup!

We also noticed that after the update the Leopard build was changed from 9C31 to 9C7010.

So if you are an owner of a Airport Extreme and thought that the Time Capsule screwed you over, you're in luck!

Thanks Apple!
