New Steve Jobs interview with the New York Times

A new Steve Jobs interview was posted this morning over at the New York Times. In it Jobs discusses Leopard, Software release strategies, Mac sales and Multi touch. A fascinating look at what's going on inside Apple.

Pushed by the "halo effect" of the iPod and iPhone, it seems that Apple is selling quite a few Macintoshes these days. In fact, according to Jobs, Apple is outpacing the industry. Coming in right behind Dell and Hewlett-Packard, Apple is now the third fastest selling PC manufacturer.

Jobs also talked about Leopard, the upcoming update to it's Mac OS X operating system coming out on October 26. “I’m quite pleased with the pace of new operating systems every 12 to 18 months for the foreseeable future,” he said. “We’ve put out major releases on the average of one a year, and it’s given us the ability to polish and polish and improve and improve.” The pace of software updates is bound to put Apple far ahead of Microsoft in the coming years.

Jobs goes on to talk laptops and Mult-touch interface. Go take a look at the full interview here.
