Apple Releases Core2Duo MacBooks!

The Apple store is offline, but Apple's webpage already features the scoops on the new Core2Duo MacBooks which they claim are 25% faster.

I'm not really surprised but I feel for whoever purchased the 1st gen MacBook which debuted not so long ago... I wonder if they are feeling buyers remorse (probably)...

from the website:
Starting at just $1099, MacBook delivers the power of the Intel Core 2 Duo — the latest generation of Intel processors — and a slew of innovative features, including: a built-in iSight camera for video chatting on the go; iLife ’06; Front Row; a glossy 13-inch widescreen display; even dual-display support.

Looks like not a whole lot has changed except the processor for this really nice machine. Lets hope that Apple worked out the kinks in the mother board for this new version and hopefully, cooling and power have been addressed.

Pretty good bang-for-the-buck with this release. It would be a perfect companion for students. Not sure how well this performs with the built in graphics card, but the higher end 2.0 GHz models sport a Dual Layer DVD Drive. So now the MacBook is in parity with the MacBook Pro the way things used to be. MacBook Pro has the Pro moniker because of the card slot, seaparate graphics card and Firewire 800.

Still, the MacBook makes my 1st Gen MacBook Pro feel old.
